| | Model of the car: | Mitsubishi Diamante | | | General comments: | We recently rented a base model mitsubishi magna (diamonte in Japan, New Zealand & the USA & made in Adelaide South Australia) It had a 3.5 litre V6 4speed auto, abs brakes together with everything else you'd expect. I'd never taken Magna's seriously before, but it got a work out because we had landed in Australia's Northern Territory where there are thousands of miles of flat hot desert & where there are NO speed limits. I had to drive to the next town over 500 kilometres away. I consciously kept the car down to a quiet cruise at 170kph. At 190kph the tacho was on 3700rpm way under the red line. This was an excellent car at speed, almost as fast as some aircraft I've flown! I can only say that the complaining Kiwi (New Zealander) must have got a small engined downrated version not sold here. | | | What things have gone wrong with the car: | I understand Magnas "residuals" (leasing) aren't great. Rides firmer that Avalons, Holdens Commodores & Ford Falcons round town. No rear aircon outlets. Rear Wheel drive lovers may not like Magna's FWD. | | | Previous car: | Holden Commodore, Ford Falcon, Toyota Camry & Avalon and Subaru. Once owned such eclectic cars as a 3.8 Jag XKE, a chrysler |
